What setup is necessary?

Multicam editing is a technique that allows you to combine several cameras and audio tracks into one seamless video clip. With our Autocut plugin, you can automate this process and focus on other aspects of your project. For an optimized workflow, we recommend having at least 2 video tracks and 2 audio tracks from 2 different microphones. (Why do I need at least two audio tracks?)

Multicam Editing Workflow

Step 1: Synchronize your footage with AutoCut Podcast

To start, and after importing your project, open Autocut in Premiere Pro (Window > Extensions) and select AutoCut Podcast. Define the sections of your video and confirm them. Assign audio tracks to each participant by choosing the speaker's name and priority. Link a video track to each camera, then set the duration of the shots. Decide if you want AutoCut to remove or disable unused clips, then launch the podcast editing. You'll get an initial dynamic render that you can tweak as you like.

Step 2: Make your video dynamic with AutoZoom

Move to AutoZoom and define the section to modify. Confirm your selection and choose the maximum zoom size. Select a preset or manually adjust the settings to apply the desired zoom. Your multicam video is now more dynamic with added zooms to match your desired pacing.

Step 3: Create short clips with AutoViral

Go back to Autocut and select AutoViral. Choose your section again and confirm. Select your language and let Autocut find potentially viral clips from your video. Remove the ones you're not interested in and generate your viral clips. Autocut will create new timelines to facilitate reposting on various platforms. You now have short clips from your multicam video sequence, ready for social media use.

Step 4: Resize your video with AutoResize

Click the menu and choose AutoResize. Define the section, confirm your choice, then select a preset or create your own. Determine the camera speed and add a watermark if desired. Resize the sequence. You now have a multicam video formatted for the desired social media platforms.

Step 5: Add animated subtitles with AutoCaptions

Access AutoCaptions, select the relevant section and your language. Open the subtitle editor and adjust the style using a preset or customizing it. Check the transcription to ensure it's correct. Rename and save your file, then add the subtitles to your project. You now have an optimized multicam sequence for your social networks.

And there you have it, your podcast is fully edited in under 10 minutes! Whether you're a beginner or an expert, Autocut, available on Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, simplifies automatic multicam editing.
